So....yeah.......

I pitched my "Stitchboy" cartoon show idea i had to an actual animation major here at the Kansas City Art Institute where i go to college. He didn't like it.
Basically, he said it's just Pinochio, only instead of a wooden puppet, it's a soft plush doll.
Now, i know that I originally got A LITTLE inspired by Pinocchio, but i thought that i had added enough different things to the idea to make it original.
BUT I FAILED AT THAT.

see, stitchboy is a naive, innocent doll boy who befriends two human kids and learns how to be a normal boy through them. (YEAH YEAH, I KNOW PINOCCHIO.) But i thought i was being original when i put an evil toystore owner that tries to kidnap him and sell him as a main villain. BUT AS IT TURNS OUT THERE'S A GUY LIKE THAT IN THE ORIGINAL PINOCCHIO STORY TOO.


So DAMMIT. Yet again i have to re-think the whole idea for Stitchboy. Now i know what you're thinking, "why don't you just move on to different ideas?" well, that's because I LOVE STITCHBOY TOO MUCH TO JUST THROW HIM AWAY. He's been, like, a constant idea i've been dreaming about for the last, like, four years! I spent a lot of time creating him, dammit, and i'm not gonna give up on him!

*sigh......*
don't you hate it when you think up an awesome idea and its already been taken?
I SURE DO.

OH, and also, that animation major guy said my style was "Disney," even the more realistic stuff i do, like the Mime or Pinstripe...
that makes me even more angry. Is my style really Disney-esque? I never saw it that way but does anyone else think so? I hope it's not because i don't want to draw in that stock style (no offense who people who do) because i want to develop my OWN style and have it be original.

well, regardless, now i gotta go brainstorm on a new premise for the ol' Stitch. see ya.
